As you probably know by now the key ingredient to growing our palm oil fruits, is water from rain. The fruit is over 60% water Rain will be absorbed over the six to seven months it takes until the fruit is ripe. So the tonnage weight of our fruit production is determined by the rainfall six to seven months before.
January
January production was lower than December which was a bit lower than November. 89k tons vs 102k vs 106k. This is after an increase from 66k in July. While rain is great, it also tends to cause flooding in the month of January which slows down production. That’s what happened last month . But this is only a temporary effect.
Forecast
January rain was 268mm, which is up from 195mm in December. This brings the monthly average rainfall to a new high in this current cycle of 255 mm. As you can see from the chart, this means higher production in the next six to seven months. The prediction is to the 160k tons a month level. That will be great!
