Rimba Raya
EHP will provide 25 years of financing for the Rimba Raya biodiversity reserve in Central Kalimantan. This funding enables Rimba Raya to
plant approximately 25,000 native-species trees per year to restore approximately 1,500 ha of peat forest.
The financing will be managed by Lestari Capital through their Sustainable Commodities Conservation Mechanism (SCCM)
Rimba Raya, which has the Ecosystem Restoration Concession permit license, is one of the largest REDD+ projects in Indonesia, protecting nearly 65,000 hectares of peat swamp forest. The project is also designed to protect the integrity of the adjacent world‐renowned Tanjung Puting National Park, by creating a physical buffer zone on the full extent of the ~90km eastern border of the park.
The project has been repeatedly verified under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and the Climate, Communities and Biodiversity Standard (CCBS) since 2009, receiving the highest Triple Gold rating in Biodiversity, Climate, and Community management.
