JAKARTA – PT Eagle High Plantations Tbk (BWPT), through its subsidiary PT Singaland Astama (SGA), recorded brilliant achievements by winning first place during the SDG Innovation Pitch Showcase: Solutions for Sustainable Business in the 2025 UN Global Compact Leaders Summit agenda series. The international forum, which was held at Convene, 101 Park Avenue, New York, United States on September 23, 2025, was attended by world-leading companies.
As Indonesia’s representative, BWPT has succeeded in appearing as a champion and bringing the nation’s name on the international stage. This momentum is even more special because the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit was held in conjunction with the Annual UN General Assembly which was attended by the head of state and global leaders.
The award was given for the innovation of Green Carbon Black: Rewind Recycling Waste into Decarbonization’, which processes palm oil empty bunches into bio-oil as a raw material for environmentally friendly black carbon. This product is an alternative to petroleum-based raw materials commonly used in the automotive, rubber, paint, and other manufacturing industries.
This innovation was born from a collaboration between BWPT and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), which is clear evidence that the synergy of the business world and national research institutions is able to produce innovative solutions that are relevant, have an impact, and can be replicated across sectors.
“Sufficiency can only be achieved if we empower young talents to grow as professionals as well as be given space to innovate. BWPT is committed to the implementation of ESG as the main foundation for long-term growth,” said BWPT CEO Henderi Djunaidi, in Jakarta, Thursday, October 16.
This achievement is the result of BWPT’s participation in the SDG Innovation Accelerator for Young Professional for nine months. The young BWPT innovator team consisted of Fadli Dermawan, Francesco Andrew, Jeffry Purwanto, and Diana Sinurat with Winda Adelita Saragih as the champion leader, appeared in the SDG Innovation Pitch Showcase session and won the title of first place. The team received full support from Henderi Djunaidi (CEO BWPT) and Bobby DA Jorris (Group Head of Human Capital and Corporate Services) as mentors.
BWPT innovation is considered superior in the relevance criteria, impacts on SDGs, innovation leadership, business sustainability, scalability, and business practices are responsible. BWPT managed to outperform global companies from 15 countries, including Tesco (England), Hermes (France), Volkswagen Truck & Bus (Mexico), to Lenovo (Tionko).
Green Carbon Black also contributes directly to a number of SDGs targets, namely:

This success is not just a victory for the company, but also a victory for Indonesia. UN Global Compact Leaders Summit 2025 proves that innovation from the Indonesian oil palm plantation sector is able to make a real contribution to the world sustainability agenda.
BWPT hopes that this achievement can inspire more Indonesian companies to join the UNC, innovate, and bring the nation’s name to the international arena. Thus, Indonesia is increasingly recognized as an important motor for global sustainable development.
