Corporate Social Responsibility

The implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an important aspect in ensuring the Company’s sustainable growth. EHP seeks to involve the community and stakeholders around the plantation’s operational areas through its CSR programs. These programs always support the achievement of 17 targets in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The Company’s commitment is to carry out sustainable CSR activities in accordance with the conditions and potential of the local community.

Once a year, EHP conducts monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of community empowerment programs. Through this activity, EHP hopes to work together with the community in improving the local economy and ensuring a healthy environment.

Community Developments

  • Agriculture : Horticulture plant cultivation (seasonal vegetables and fruits), year-round fruits, and industrial plants (plasma palm oil).

  • Animal husbandry , consisting of poultry (chicken and ducks), small ruminant (goats, pigs), large ruminant (cows).

  • Freshwater fishery, consisting of running water fishery, pond fishery, and captive fishery.

  • Household industry, fish and wheat crackers industry, rattan craft industry, wood carving.

  • Other business activities : blacksmith, recycle business activities.

Conflict Resolution

In handling conflict, EHP believes that conflict resolution must be carried out in a non-violent manner. The company will prioritize the law and pay attention to the rights of local communities in order to reach a resolution that is acceptable to both parties. EHP engages community stakeholders on a regular basis to prevent or resolve any potential conflict that might arise. To mitigate land and permit conflict risks, the Company negotiate with related parties to reach a mutual agreement as well as through CSR programs, grievance handling mechanism, and conflict resolution mechanism.

HUMAN RIGHTS AND LABOR

EHP is also committed to respecting Human Rights (HAM) as defined in the General Declaration on Human Rights (UDHR) and the International Labor Organization Core Conventions (ILO Core Conventions) in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Indonesia. EHP also actively integrates human rights aspects into business practices throughout its value chain.

In addition, the Company must uphold freedom of association and effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining. This is done through activities to facilitate the formation of employee associations, dissemination and implementation of company regulations regarding human rights, labor and environmental policies to employees.

EHP also provides remuneration for employees that has been adjusted to the provisions of laws and regulations and the standard rules of the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP). All employees (100%) receive wages equivalent to the UMP. The company complies with applicable requirements in accordance with government regulations, which consist of basic salary as well as fixed and variable allowances in all our operational areas. As an RSPO member, we are also committed to meeting the payment of a Decent Living Wage (DLW) in accordance with the 2018 RSPO Principles and Criteria Criterion 6.2 which requires that salaries and conditions for staff and workers, as well as contract workers, meet minimum legal and/or industry standards and are sufficient for a Decent Living Wage.

In addition, men and women (both permanent and temporary employees) receive equal remuneration with a ratio of 1:1, regardless of gender.
